Gus was born in Panama, Central America, in 1987. In December 1990, at the age of 3, his family decided to move from the country due to the initiation of operation ''Just cause'' across Panamanian territory. This was a secret operation, organized by the United States military, as an attempt to capture Manuel Antonio Noriega, a dictator at the time and they succeeded. Due to the violence and commotion that spread throughout the city, Gustavo's family chose to move from the country and escape from harms way as even those not involved with the dictator where being affected in some way. They moved to Florida, in the United States, and remained there for 5 years or so up until everything settled back in Panama; This is where Gustavo gained his English mainly.
Once back in Panama, Gustavo had to overcome the language barrier once more as he was used to speaking English. Gustavo's parents placed him in the Oxford International School, so he could practice his English, but at the same time, he was pulled back a year to regain his Spanish. Gustavo has always been a creative person since a young age and always participated in outdoor activities with friends for fun. As time progressed, he was involved in films in some way or another. From home made films with his friends to commercials filmed by professionals. It became a part of him and he found interest in the field due to his exposure towards the art.
Gustavo graduated from high school in 2005, at ''Colegio Brader'', and the next year he enrolled in Florida State University in Panama to attempt and achieve a bachelors in Film. In the year 2008 he completed his Associates degrees in arts, but it was a rough time for the family as his parents where going through difficult times, which eventually lead to a divorce prior to the year ending. After his father left, this cut Gustavo's financial and emotional stability, which also lead to affecting both his siblings and mother.
In 2009 Gustavo moved out from the house to live with his grandparents as the situation at home had become unbearable at the time. He started working in call centers, as he was not able to achieve a decent job anywhere else. Gustavo had to go through a few up until he reached some sort of economical balance. He was as well still in contact with his father, but less and less as time progressed. His father eventually became too busy with his life and disappeared completely.
A year later, 2010, the relationship between Gustavo and his mother initiated a restoration phase. He also enrolled in another University, as an attempt to complete his education, and due to him working, his financial status incremented slightly. His mother had to go through rough times as well to re-gain some financial stability. Initially she helped Gustavo with college tuition, which later rested entirely on Gustavo's hands as his financial situation progressed. His grandmother also lend a hand by helping him with his first loan to buy a car. This led him to finding a hidden passion, which was related the world of cars and driving.
As time passed, he steadily improved his life in general and was eventually presented with new opportunities in working on different projects involved in filming. He also had the opportunity to participate in his first professional film as a body double for Nick, Josh Hutcherson's character in ''Escobar: Paradise Lost''.
In December 2014, Gustavo completed his degree in Publicity and Marketing. A few months prior to that, he was hired by one of the biggest Ford dealers in the country to work as a Marketing executive due to his great character, his creativity and knowledge for cars. Here he could put his creativity and his passion for cars to good use, and for the first time in a long time he felt satisfied. Up to this day he is still chasing his dreams with a positive mind and the hopes that everything will be alright in his future.
