Biography

As a child, Germain was passionate about light and the world of writing. It's no surprise that cinema quickly became a part of his everyday life. His first shot film was Projecture (2011) with Romain Merle (Cannes Talent Adami Award). After getting together with his celluloid brother Folco Marchi and Shaya Lelouch (one of the daughters of Claude Lelouch), he made Deora Search (2012). His third short film was September In Winter (Septembre En Hiver) (2013), an ensemble piece starring Damien Jouillerot, Julien Bravo, and again Folco Marchi. The last two films were presented at the 2012 and 2013 Cannes Film Festivals in the Short Film Corner. Germain shot and executive produced Folco Marchi's first feature: a new wave styled film called Ils Sont Elles. He then created Huis Clos Films with the cinematographer and photographer Guillaume Raulin. Through this company, he produced Débutants, written and directed by Juan Pittaluga. The film was officially released across France on June 11th 2014. In August of 2014, the American writer and director Vincent Dale turned to Germain to be the producer for his short film, Paris Love Conspiracy. This successful collaboration was spoken about in a Florida based news publication even before the film had finished production. Going against the usual French grain and inspired by American Mumblecore films, Germain directed Angels Don't Dream (Les Anges Ne Revent Pas) in the summer of 2014. The film starred Pauline Parigot who was pre-nominated for a César Award for best Emerging actress. In September of the same year, Germain directed a music video starring actors Lucie Gallo and Esther Garrel (The daughter of the french filmmaker Philippe Garrel) for a French band called Novembres.
