Tucker McCoy was born in Wilmington, Delaware on Thanksgiving Day November 24th 1960. He grew up an equestrian, working on thoroughbred racehorse farms in the small agricultural community of Middletown. As a young man he loved singing, playing sports and going to school dances. In the 8th grade he aspired to be a working actor and wrote an English paper stating his intentions of moving to Hollywood, California. During his senior year he moved in with his maternal grandparents Edwin and Grace Coates of Punta Gorda, Florida and graduated from Charlotte High School in 1978. He joined the US Army Combat Engineer Corp in 1980 and served in Western Germany during the cold war. While serving in Europe, he went on his first professional theater audition in Aschaffenburg, Germany for the French farce play Hotel Paradiso and was cast in the role of Maxime. He was later cast in the musical Guys and Dolls and the one act play Camera Obscura directed by George Plank. McCoy was honorably discharged in the summer of 1984 and auditioned for the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and was accepted into the Actors Conservatory program. He studied Mask Work and the Meisner method under Walter Dallas, a Yale Drama School Alum. After two years of studying acting, McCoy went on to become a musical theater actor performing in Godspell, The Pajama Game, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and A Christmas Carol in theaters along the eastern seaboard. In 1992, McCoy studied TV acting at the University of Delaware and completed a one year Television Program under Professor Walt Rykiel. He then headed out west to Los Angeles and earned his Screen Actors Guild card doing 3 episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Tucker moved to Key West, Florida in 2004 where he worked in the FM radio business for 4 years. He hosted a Saturday morning talk show and voiced commercials for 104.1 US 1 Radio and 98.7 Conch Country. McCoy now lives in Los Angeles and has been busy acting and doing voiceover work for theatre,television and independent feature films. He was recognized for his outstanding performance as Ed Kazden in the feature film Broadway Lofts directed by Christopher Schwanitz. Tucker McCoy is an active member of Actors Equity Association, and the Screen Actors Guild ~ American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. McCoy volunteers at the SAG Conservatory in Hollywood where members can hone their craft through classes,workshops, and lectures.
