Amanda Murray

Biography

Amanda Murray was born in Memphis, Tennessee, May 3, 1989, to Melville and Anne Murray. Amanda never had siblings. It was realized around Amanda's first year that she was deaf. She was fitted with her first hearing aid before she was two. Then later on in childhood, she was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. Amanda had a difficult childhood, growing up. She had very few friends and was frequently misunderstood because of her autism. Movies quickly became a way of escape. In movies, the girl always won in the end and Amanda would find herself pretending to be the heroine. When watching movies wasn't an option, Amanda would create elaborate stories and act them out with the few friends she did have. That was when her parents noticed her knack for story-telling. They encouraged her to write down all of her stories and preserve them. They also took her to auditions for various plays. At first, Amanda wanted to be an actress, but realized in her late teens that that was not her calling. She changed her focus to directing and, since then, has been doing whatever it takes to make her dreams come true.
