Kyle Schaefer

Biography

Kyle Schaefer is a founding member of Recent Cutbacks in NYC. He most recently wrapped remote principal recording on a multi-cast, commissioned Audible Original that he helped create, and can be seen in the homage to Groundhog Day shot entirely on Zoom in the early days of the pandemic: Zoomhog Day. Born and raised in Tulsa, OK, Kyle is a classically trained actor with 20 years of dance experience. He plays guitar and ukulele, knits alongside his two cats, Romeo and Pudgley, and lovingly tends to a sourdough starter named Sir Quincy. Other projects with Recent Cutbacks include Hold On To Your Butts, Fly, You Fools!, Kevin!!!!!, and Next Day Thrones. HOTYB was a Time Out NY Critic's Pick and Best Comedy Show, and has had multiple sold-out runs at the PIT as well as touring to Chicago, Virginia and Indianapolis. He plays a lead in the independent short films Mania, Float and Turnpike, and on the award-winning comedic web series Brokers. He appeared in Wandering Bark Theatre Company's production of Hedda (Gabler) as George Tesman at the IRT Theater, Hunger & Thirst Theatre's Ivanov as Kossih, and recently originated the role of Buck Wells in the World Premiere of Argonauts at Columbia University. He holds a BS in Theatre Performance from the University of Evansville, and an MFA in Acting from the American Conservatory Theater. He's a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.
