Markus Pössel

Biography

Markus Pössel was born in Hamburg, Germany, where he studied physics and astronomy at the University of Hamburg. He pursued graduate studies at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) 1997-2003, and stayed on at the institute first as a researcher and later as an outreach scientist. In 2008, Pössel joined the staff of the World Science Festival in New York to work under Brian Greene for the festival's inaugural 2008 run. A year later, Pössel became managing director of "Haus der Astronomie", Center for Astronomy Education and Outreach, in Heidelberg, Germany, where he is also the lead outreach scientist for the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy.
