Heather Elliott-Famularo

Biography

Heather Elliott-Famularo is committed to researching and exploring cultural issues in her work. Her interest in the Holocaust began in 2005 when she began collaborating with composer, Burton Beerman, in his multimedia opera, TIKVAH, directing and producing the video for the piece. Her current work includes Bearing Witness: The Voices of Our Survivors, a documentary film that captures the stories of the Holocaust survivors in Toledo, Ohio. This feature-length compilation of survivors' stories includes the voices of the young Jewish youth of the local synagogues. Elliott-Famularo was awarded a competitive fellowship at the Institute for the Study of Culture and Society at BGSU to complete the film in 2011. The film was also awarded several grants. Elliott-Famularo is an Associate Professor and Chair of Digital Arts at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She holds a MFA in Art and Technology from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition to teaching digital art and video courses, she has also produced several award-winning promotional films for non-profits and organizations. As an artist, she creates video installations for galleries and alternative exhibition spaces. She has exhibited in IDEAS10: Art and the Digital Narrative in Vancouver, the SIGGRAPH 2005 Art Gallery in Los Angeles, and numerous national galleries and festivals.
