She was born in Chicago, Illinois on a snowy, Sunday night, the day after Christmas in 1948. Her father, John Marshall Peterson, was a WW II Army vet working on his PH.D in Economics so he moved the family around as his career progressed. This meant that she was raised in Maryland, Alcoa, Tennessee, Little Rock, Arkansas, and, after her parents divorced, Seattle, Washington. While in the Fourth Grade in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Integration Crisis occurred just two blocks from her home. She saw Federal troops with tanks come down her street and guarding her street corner. This made a big impression on her.
As a senior in High School she decided to apply to Antioch College in order to have a less structured learning environment. She realized that she knew about many things but actually KNEW nothing about life. Antioch did provide many experiences and opportunities. Almost at once she became enamored of movies. Her first quarter she saw 10 or more movies a week, including many Hollywood classics. In the Spring of 1967, she heard that a group of seniors were making a movie for their senior thesis. She tried out for the part of Thelma. She remembers that at the tryout she stepped outside of herself and simply exuded sexuality. She was cast at once. Making the movie was fun, she was a little embarrassed to watch herself in the sexy role in an audience of the whole school. At the end of the school year in 1967, the school invited famous director, Josef Von Sternberg to give a talk. We then all watched The Antioch Adventure. She sat next to Mr. Von Sternberg. After the film, he praised her acting and asked if she planned to make a career in acting. She said, No and he said that was too bad and that she could if she wanted to.
In 1969, Wendy went to San Francisco on a work quarter and never returned to Antioch. She joined Scientology and has worked there for over 43 years now as a Minister. This has been personally and spiritually enlightening and satisfying for her. She has helped many people. In 1973, she met her husband, Dennis Negley and was married the 28th of December, 1974. Wendy's children, Devin and Sean, were born in 1981 and 1985, respectively. Devin married John Weber in 2001 and has two children, Crispin, age 5 and Elinor, age 5 months.
So, that's the story. Wendy Peterson Negley is a wife, mother and grandmother who happens to have been in a movie in 1967.
