Robert van Twillert

Robert van Twillert is an international actor, stunts performer, musician and entrepreneur. Robert has a unique form of dwarfism and refers to himself as a "short-stature actor". van Twillert was born in Bunschoten (Holland), a pittoresque village near Amsterdam. He is the 3rd son of Harry van Twillert and Janny Koelewijn. Robert has always had a strong interest in music, arts, science and technology. Robert learned to program computers at the age of 6 and started to play the piano at age 7. When he was 14 he bought himself professional midi-equipment and started producing dance music. His style is known for having strong influences from the organ sound and harmony found in the Dutch Reformed Church. After high school he pursued his interest in science and studied Physics at the Utrecht University. In 2003 he also got a degree in Business Engineering. The passion for computers remained and in 1999 aged 21, after a sabbatical year, and while studying physics, he started his own company namely Terra-IT.com. From this a stable financial foundation gave him the possibility to become very picky in roles and performances. Robert's public entertainment career started as a hobby at age 15 in the local bars/discotheques, where he performed as a rapper. He soon got discovered by DJ Pedro and started touring in Holland. A few years later he was a well known artist performing on a weekly base as an MC on stage at all major nightclubs and big Dutch Dance Festivals. (Mysteryland, Awakenings, Defqon and many more.. ). He worked with various respected DJ's in the dance industry, including DJ Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Michel de Hey and Sven Vath amongst many others. While establishing his career in the dance industry he also worked at the local broadcasting station, making radio and filming funny sketches. Accidentally he got discovered by a Dutch casting agency and it didn't took long until he got booked for his first TV-commercial. At some point he was to be seen in 4 different TV-commercials during a single commercial break. From this point on his entertainment career took off and he got asked for more and more roles, but he always kept his dignity and only accepted respectful (or very funny) roles. He declined denigrating appearances in big shows like Paul de Leeuw's Late Night Shows and John de Mol's "De Gouden Kooi". In 2012 he got his first role in a feature movie: Dementamania. A film by the award winning Kit Ryan, with well known actors such as Kal Penn, Vincent Regan and Samuel Robertson. In this movie he plays Pablo Mendoza; a mischievous person that mentally pushes Edward Arkham (the lead, played by Samuel Robertson) over the edge. His outstanding performance got widely reported by international media. As a teenager he came in contact with books about NLP (Neuro linguistic Programming) and became a NLP-practitioner. He strongly believes people can shape their own lives. Robert van Twillert is member of Mensa. Van Twillert is also a voluntary treasurer of the 'Dutch Association of Little People' (BVKM) and member of numerous business association boards.
