Earlier a sound recordist, now an independent filmmaker and editor, Lipika Singh Darai lives and works from Odisha, India. She passed out of FTII, Pune in 2010 with a specialisation in sound recording. Her films are mostly in Odia language characterised by strong personal narration and introspection. While her documentary, "Some stories around witches" investigates the humanitarian crisis surrounding the cases of witch-hunts, her short fiction " The waterfall", underlines the growing distance between human beings and nature. She has been a part of various research works; Artist in "City as Studio project" under SARAI, CSDS ; Participant of Seoul Biennale of architecture and urbanism-2017. She has been in the Jury Panels for various film festivals including IFFI- Indian Panorama. She has received four National Film Awards in various capacities such as direction, sound recording and narration of a film in the period of 2010-2017 presented by the President of India.
