Ilai Amar

Ilai Amar is a creative & commercial film producer based in Auckland, New Zealand. Ilai's portfolio includes both drama and documentary short films, web series, music videos as well as a large collection of commercial work for some of NZ's biggest brands. In the past two years Ilai has produced two short films (Pain & Sail Away) both funded by NZ Film Commission and both having their world premiere as part of the NZ's Best short film competition section of the NZ International Film Festival in 2018 and 2020. Since 2019, Ilai has been managing the 'Someday Stories' series of films (funded by NZ On Air, Te Managai Paho & NZ Film Commission), serving as Executive Producer. Previous to that, Ilai produced Balloons' a 20-minute short film directed by Michael Hurst, and the short documentaries 'Bitter Sweet' and 'Lions', which he also co-directed and both of which were selected to screen as part of the NZ International Film Festival in 2016.
