Chip St. Clair has spent the past 10 years writing bestselling nonfiction, commercial young adult fiction, and screenplays for Oscar-nominated actors and producers, as well as contributing to the growth and success of two nonprofit organizations serving children. Currently he serves as a Ghostwriter and Project Editor for ForbesBooks, where he helps some the world's most innovative thought-leaders and entrepreneurs tell informative and entertaining stories.
Following the success of his bestselling memoir The Butterfly Garden (HCI, 2008), which currently is in development for feature film adaptation, he was a featured author at the BEA in Los Angeles, nominated for the Michigan Notable Book Award, and embarked on a national book signing tour for Borders. In addition, Levy Home Entertainment, distributor to Target, Walmart, etc., named The Butterfly Garden one of their top 100 bestsellers.
He's been featured on media outlets worldwide, including Good Morning America, Dateline, and Huffington Post as an author and child advocate, and most recently in a documentary on OWN and Investigation Discovery.
In addition to writing and screenwriting, St. Clair is a board member for an international mental health services organization, and a motivational speaker (member of Premiere Speakers Bureau and Celebrity Talent International) where he delivers riveting professional development and leadership keynotes to C-level executives, governmental agencies, and professionals across a variety of industries. St. Clair also guest teaches creative writing in at-risk middle and high schools for the non-profit he co-founded, dedicated to helping children turn their passion into purpose through creative arts and literature programs.
St. Clair resides in Michigan with his best friend and wife of 20 years, Lisa.
His compelling story is chronicled in his memoir The Butterfly Garden (HCI, 2008). Universities, high schools, and juvenile detention facilities all across the country have incorporated his memoir into their curriculum, and St. Clair's expertise in advocacy and identity theft, as well as his riveting lectures have become an integral part of the training for law enforcement, prosecutors, and DHS is several states.
In 2007, Chip and Lisa founded the St. Clair Butterfly Foundation, a non-profit that helps children heal through traumatic experiences using therapeutic programs based in the creative arts. St. Clair's mission is to eradicate the notion that children of sordid backgrounds are defined by their surroundings and destined to continue a cycle of suffering.
Today, Chip continues to expand his foundation, to lecture, and is working on several new fiction book projects, where he looks to offer readers of all ages the same inspiration and enjoyment he found in books as a child.
