Bruce Driscoll

Biography

Film composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Bruce Driscoll got his start in music playing guitar and experimenting with recording on a 4-track in his parent's Michigan basement. He formed the band Astaire (Now Blondfire) with his sister in Erica in 2003 and soon after relocated to New York. There he partnered with Ivy's Andy Chase and began producing albums with him for his Unfiltered Records Label (Warner ILG.). In 2005 Driscoll partnered with TV and ad composer Jeremy Adelman (Hart of Dixie) to form the folky-string laden group Sleepy Rebels. Together and with Erica they composed music for advertisements from JC Penney, Jaguar and Volkswagen. In 2011 he met French singer Marie Seyrat and formed the band Freedom Fry. Their sound was welcomed with open arms by the fashion world with features from Glamour and American Apparel's Viva Radio Blog. Additionally, the song Earthquake was added to in-store playlists from Victoria's Secret, Asos, Topshop and Princesse Tam.Tam and named single-of-the-week by highbrow French music magazine Les Inrockuptibles. In October of 2012 their song Summer In The City reached number 13 on the commercial specialty charts and also appeared on many best-of lists for the year. Meanwhile, the Blondfire single Where The Kids Are began taking off online and receiving support from the influential Sirius XM show Alt Nation. The song became number one after 21 weeks on their charts. Around this time the group signed with Warner Bros. Records. After completing production and co-writing the debut album Young Heart, Bruce decided to take the role of musical director for the group, assembled a band to back Erica and allowed them to tour while he concentrated on his film scoring, production and other projects. In July of 2012 Bruce scored the Romanian film Minte-Ma Frumos which went on to become the number one movie at their box office that year. Now based in Los Angeles he continues to produce, write and release music with all of his various projects. Most recently he produced Brooklyn 4-piece Camera2 and North Carolina's Stroik.
