Triparna Banerjee is a screenwriter and independent filmmaker. She is a 2019 Film Independent's Global Media Maker fellow.
Triparna grew up in eastern India in a culturally vibrant space experimenting with amateur theatre and performing arts. A trained classical dancer, she completed her graduation in Kathak from Rabindra Bharti University. She moved to New Delhi for her higher studies, where she was actively involved in theatre. She specialized in children's theatre and theatre training for youth and children. After completing her Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications she worked in Advertising Industry.
Always passionate about filmmaking, she took her first step in professional screenwriting when she joined Miditech as a scriptwriter for Sesame Street India, for Nickelodeon. Post that she joined the feature film 'Frozen' (2009) as an associate producer. It premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and has been to over 30 festivals including IFFR, and Busan, and received 18 international awards and 2 National Awards in India.
Triparna has worked for advertising and independent feature films as a writer, assistant director and creative producer. As a screenwriter, she has worked with production houses and networks like - Miditech, Hotstar, Zee 5, Citoc Motion Pictures, SVF Entertainment among others, and across all platforms, advertising, documentaries, television, OTTs and films. Her films as a writer have been presented at development labs like - L'atelier Cinéfondation at Cannes, Asian Project Market at Busan and HAF in Hong Kong. She writes in English, Hindi and Bengali.
