Bethany Joy Burr

Bethany Joy Burr is a Mormon-born writer-director from small-town Utah. She's big-city educated, gaining her BA from NYU in English and American Literature with a minor in Creative Writing. Then, she spent several years in graduate film school at Chapman University in Orange County, California. But, she didn't finish due to health and creative circumstances. When the moment was right, BJB went back to school to finish her MFA at the University of Utah. She will graduate in May 2020 with her Film and Media Arts Master's effectively ten years in the making. BJB works primarily in the creative non-fiction genre, exploring her intersectional identity of femininity, post-Mormonism, and queer aesthetic through a convergence of various production methods and devices.
