Theron Sturgess

Theron was born and raised in small town middle America. After his parents divorced he moved from small town Missouri to Kansas City where he first participated in public speaking and acting. While in high school he competed in speech and debate competitions and worked with debate and drama students throughout high school. In 1986 he began his study of martial arts after years of interest in martial arts and action movies the likes of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon to Star Wars. Self-described as a misfit jock/nerd he simultaneously participated on the debate team, and political science club while running cross country, swimming, and kickboxing. After high school he attended college at Missouri State in Springfield, MO where he continued his martial arts training while studying the roots of story telling and the human experience earning a BA in English Literature with a minor emphasis in Cultural Anthropology. He spent his summers working as a rock climbing and rappelling instructor, trail guide, and raft guide for the Boy Scouts of America and local outdoor adventure outfitters. After graduation he remained in Colorado and follow the rivers of the west in Colorado and Arizona until a call from his college martial arts instructor pulled him back to Springfield, MO where he eventually purchased his former Martial Arts school and is to this day the owner and operator of Dynamic Edge Martial Arts. Upon his return to Missouri, Theron began working with the local student and independent film groups on short film projects and indie films. He participated in the 2005 CINEmerge film festival when his team took the blue ribbon for the 48 hour film challenge. After that he consulted and worked on local film projects contributing martial arts knowledge, helping with stunt work, and fight choreography. He's acted in several shorts and web series and recently worked on action and fight scenes for a local indie feature film. He continues to write, act, and choreograph action sequences for local indie and student film projects.
