Charlie Mosbrook

Biography

Charlie Mosbrook is a musician. In addition to his own music, Charlie continues to promote local music throughout the Cleveland area with several open mics, songwriting workshops and as a recording engineer. His dedication to the development of new music dates back to his late teens when he began hosting popular open mics, giving audience to many of the area's most popular acts as they began their careers. His willingness to create and provide these opportunities ultimately led to the Coverage CD, as many of the acts he worked with came together to perform his music in tribute and support as Charlie struggled with a Spinal Cord Injury he suffered in 2010. His most recent CD "Little By Little" was recorded after becoming an incomplete quadriplegic. Many of the songs deal with the injury that has limited the former Ironman triathlete's ability to walk and taken a substantial amount of touch sensation from his hands. Despite the injury, Charlie still plays guitar at a high level and has taught him self how to work around paralysis to two of his fingers in both hands. He regularly performs for patients at Cleveland's MetroHealth SCI therapy center and his neighborhood library. While living with a disability comes with great difficulty, Charlie views it as a blessing in many ways. His music today owes a lot to living with SCI. As an endurance athlete, Charlie is now sponsored by the Challenged Athletes Foundation as a handcyle racer.
