Biography

Born in Singapore in February 1994, Gershon and his family relocated to Hong Kong when he was 12. During his 7-year residency there, Gershon completed his International Baccalaureate diploma and was accepted into the highly selective Film & Television Production Program at the University of Southern California (USC). Soon after, he returned to Singapore to serve in The Army for two years. Currently studying at USC, his personal goal is to write, direct and produce commercially and critically successful science fiction feature films that motivate positive social change. His dramatic short "The Ascension" was named "Best Film" at the 2011 SIS Film Awards and subsequently, Gershon won "Best Director" for it at the Hong Kong Schools Film Awards in its inaugural year. Since then, it has been screened in more than a dozen film festivals across the globe including Hawaii International Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival and Irvine International Film Festival. The Ascension attained the "Adam Ford Youth Filmmaking Award" at the 2012 Crossroads Film Festival in Mississippi. And in late 2012, Gershon received a sponsorship from the Hong Kong government to attend the 2012 Asian American International Film Festival in New York City where it was screened. On 14th February 2013, Gershon enlisted in the Singapore Armed Forces and attended the Specialist Cadet School before being posted to the Specialist & Warrant Officer's Institute as a Media Specialist. There, he was placed in charge of providing media coverage for foreign delegates and external visitors such as the United States Army Sergeant Major, The President, Royal Brunei Navy and the New Zealand Army Sergeant Major as well as the production of key organizational materials like their corporate video and its quarterly graduation videos, which screened to 6,000 spectators annually. Shortly, he founded the Media Innovation Specialist Team (M.I.S.T.) - the team dedicated in providing professional videography, photography and publication work for the Institute. In efforts to strengthen the institute's media capabilities, Gershon spearheaded "The Studio" project of designing and developing a full-fledged professional working studio and initiated the upgrading of equipment to meet industry-standard. In recognition of his exemplary conduct, passion and commitment, Gershon was invited to meet The President, Dr. Tony Tan, at the 2014 Presidential Garden Reception. Additionally, he received the Best Solider Award (Feb 2014) from Colonel Kevin Chin and was presented with a SAFTI MI Letter of Appreciation (May 2014) by Brigadier General Benedict Lim. At the tender age of 18, Gershon started up his own production business, Cinechromatic Studios, dedicated in providing professional videography, photography and scoring services. He aspires to be the upcoming Christopher Nolan. He has faith he will be. And better.
