Biography

Marie Dixon was born as Ada Marie Boyd in Little Rock, Arkansas, on February 13, 1932. While working as a cashier in a theater in downtown Little Rock, she met Ray Dixon. He charmed her into marriage and helped her follow his lead in being a Hollywood extra. In 1956, Marie was an extra in three films: The Catered Affair (1956), Rock Around the Clock (1956), (in which she was an audience member clapping and dancing to the new thing they called rock and roll), and D-Day the Sixth of June (1956) (she tries to get American cigarettes from Robert Taylor). She had actually been given a line to say, but her Arkansas accent didn't work for what was supposed to be an English woman. Marie had the opportunity to work again in The Spirit of St. Louis (1957). She showed up for a couple of days, but bad weather delayed filming. After this disappointment, Marie decided to "retire" and focus on her growing family. Eventually Marie and Ray divorced, and she married Jack Payne. She had a long, happy, and productive life. On August 15, 2021, Marie passed away. She had 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
