Russ Lallier has lived in the Gunnison area since 1966. His interest in trains and history came from his father, Eugene Russell Lallier, who would take him to ride the Durango & Silverton and Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroads.
Russ got his first 35MM & 8mm cameras in 6th Grade, where he started working with the school yearbooks. He started taking photography classes in high school and at Western State College.
Russ worked in Emergency Services as a fire fighter and EMT for fifteen years, while also working in radio and television. After an injury in 2004, Russ was unable to return to work for over two years. During this time, Russ taught himself how to make films. The first train film was to be a 10-min. clip for the local museum. Now he plans to make fourteen films about the Narrow Gauge Railroad Operations of the Gunnison, Colorado area.
