David Landreth

David Landreth is a Los Angeles based 1st Assistant Cameraman. For over 18 years, David has successfully honed his craft and earned the respect of his peers in the industry. With experience shooting in less than ideal conditions to shooting in controlled environments such as sound stages, David has proven himself as a catalyst for DP's and Directors who want to attain their creative production goals. Becoming a member of the International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600) was one of many goals David has achieved through the years, and he has many more plans for his exciting future. From a very early age, David developed a strong interest for the film and television industry while growing up in North Carolina. By high school, David had been shooting videos of friends and family so frequently that it became normal to see him with his clunky VHS video camera constantly on his shoulder. He even angered his mother once for sitting on the front of a moving vehicle so he could get "this cool low angle shot". Still at this time, he considered it a hobby and didn't think of pursuing camera work as a career. Not having known anyone in the industry, there was no clear direction on where to channel his interests. In 10th grade, David saw an opportunity for a career-based course for "Television Broadcasting". Seeing an outlet for his interests, David took the course and was subsequently offered a job at a local television station just weeks after his 16th birthday. In a few short years, David quickly excelled and worked as a commercial Producer/Director and Chief Videographer. He worked for various television stations throughout the country including Florida where he spent several years. After more than a decade of work in television, David's interest in narrative and larger scale production peaked. David began freelancing and taking courses designed for camera department crew including Steadicam, Operating and Camera Assisting. Camera Assisting became an immediate desire and has been for David ever since. Although he enjoys camera operating as well, David plans on being a career camera assistant. Anyone that has worked with David will tell you his passion for this industry is infectious and his professionalism is second to none. David always has a smile on his face and producers, as well as other crewmembers, would say that he gives everything he's got on every project he works.
