Biography

Chris Tasara is a West Coast-based writer, director, and musician. His love for filmmaking took him to the University of Miami where he earned his Masters Degree in Film. Soon after he graduated he made the move to Los Angeles where he began his career. Chris's Moving Targets screenplay won the Best Action Sequence Feature award at the 2017 Action On Film/ Hollywood Dreams International Film Festival. Moving Targets also took second place for Best Unpublished Screenplay at the 2016 Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival. His Guns For Hire screenplay was a finalist in the 2018 Los Angeles Film and Script Festival, the 2016 World Series of Screenwriting, and the 2016 Hollywood Screenplay Contest. Chris's film Deadline, a supernatural crime thriller he wrote and directed, aired on Time Warner, Comcast, Charter, Cox, Verizon, and AT&T video on demand in spring/summer of 2013 and hit the foreign market in the spring of 2014. Deadline also netted him fifteen awards from the California Film Awards (where the Deadline screenplay won a Diamond award), the Los Angeles Movie Awards, the Lucerne International Film Festival, and the LA Cinema Fest of Hollywood among others. The film was an official selection in the 2012 Fright Night Film Fest and the 2012 Indie Horror Film Fest, where it was nominated for Best Director, Best Feature, Best Leading Actress, and Best Cinematography. Chris scored half of Deadline and won Best Original Score from the LA Cinema Fest of Hollywood. His music has also featured on the Nickelodeon show Victorious. Chris fought as an amateur light heavyweight boxer in Miami. He wrote and directed a boxing documentary called Fortitude and Glory on the late great boxing guru Angelo Dundee featuring interviews with two-time heavyweight champion George Foreman and world renowned trainer Freddie Roach. Fortitude won the Gold Remi Award for Best Sports Documentary at Houston Worldfest. His passion for fighting led Chris to write his next screenplay Warrior Sprit which goes deep inside the boxing world thru a heart-wrenching story of a father-daughter relationship. Chris pays homage to classic boxing movies, channeling spirit, grit and perseverance. Warrior Spirit won Best Feature Script from the 2020 Vegas Movie Awards, an Honorable Mention from the 2019 Los Angeles Film Awards, and Best Screenplay Feature from the 2020 Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival. The script is also an Official Selection in the 2019 New York City International Screenwriting Awards, the 2019 LA Live Film Festival, the 2020 Hollywood Dreams International Film Festival and the 2020 LA Under The Stars Film Festival. Chris's new You Tube series Dopamine, encompassing entertainment, music and sports, debuted in October of 2020 and featured UFC star Dustin Poirier as the first guest.
