S. Zachary Knox

Biography

S. Zachary Knox is an award-winning actor, award-winning filmmaker, dancer, author, columnist, photographer, public speaker, and martial artist. At the age of sixteen, he was admitted to A&T University as their youngest pupil. He even taught a seminar on screen writing to upperclassmen peers. Zachary served as Executive Producer and Assistant Director of his company's award-winning films "Un-Perfect" and "I Am Man". He made his directorial debut with the experimental comedy "Pretentious: Skylar Avielle" and has produced industrial, public service announcement, and student films. Zachary has served as Director of On Field Promotions for the Wilson Tobs semi-pro baseball team. He oversaw a staff of half a dozen employees and directed and coordinated all promotion for the team's sponsors. Through his leadership, charisma and ability to effectively communicate with others, he was instrumental in making guests at each game have a more enjoyable and hands on experience. Zachary also served as photographer, videographer and editor of sports games for The Wilson Times Newspaper. Zachary's regional theatrical acting credits includes "High School Musical", "Purlie", "Flowers for Algernon", "Blather Blarney and Balderdash", "Miracle on 34th Street", "Diary of Anne Frank" and "Motown Revue". But it is perhaps his recurring role as "Jesus Christ" in the faith-based stage-play "Good Friday" that has made the greatest impact on his audiences thus far. On the small screen, Zachary starred in a national public service announcement in which he portrayed one half of a same sex couple for the state of North Carolina to highlight the rural numbers of greater victims of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. As one half of the group Testify Mime, Zachary has studied mime and performed throughout the East Coast on television, in theaters, churches, community and women's centers and various other venues. He has also appeared in multiple photo shoots for renowned photographer Burk Uzzle. Zachary has received many awards and accolades for being a model student, activist and voice of today's youth. In 2009, he became the first recipient of the Marcedes M. Fuller 'Young and Gifted' Award at the 1st Annual BEFY Education and Networking Symposium. Zachary credits his business partners at Brotherside as a significant influence to his writing, but is also inspired by the likes of Mantan Moreland, Paul Robeson, The Wayans Brothers, Debbie Allen, Spike Lee, Tyler Perry, Aaron McGruder, George Lucas and Alfred Hitchcock among others.
