Biography

Luigi Serafini is an Italian artist, architect and designer. He is famous for his alienating and mysterious works, such as the Codex Seraphinianus, the encyclopedia of a fantastic world, illustrated and written in an indecipherable alphabet, first published in book form by Franco Maria Ricci in 1981 consisting of 360 plates . Many intellectuals, writers and artists have written about his work, including Italo Calvino, Roland Barthes, Tim Burton, Douglas Hofstadter, Umberto Eco.
