Wayman Stewart

Biography

Wayman Earl Stewart II was born on August 8, 1989 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The youngest of four in a blended family, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee at the age of four. His family then relocated to Jacksonville, Florida when he was seven, where he spent the rest of his upbringing. His journey as an artist began when he discovered creative writing at the age of nine. Having finally found the right outlet for the energy that his teachers found hard to understand or govern, he devoted much of his attention to his creativity. Stewart wrote his first screenplay at the age of 11, influenced by the works of Steven Soderbergh and Spike Lee, and would often write scripts for he and his friends to perform, developing an interest in acting that would become lifelong. Upon graduating from Mandarin High in 2007, Stewart attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, majoring in Theatre Performance. He eventually experienced issues with the program, having had to audition three times to enter an upper-level class. Free-spirited and independent-minded, he left school before completing his degree. In 2011, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Still pursuing his love of screenwriting, as well as acting, Stewart soon developed an interest in producing and starring in his own written work. Yet, it wasn't until eight years later, after numerous attempts at producing that either fell through due to lack of funding or failed to find an audience, that Stewart finally began to see the fruit of his labors, starring in the 2021 short film "Late Confessions." In the proof-of-concept, which he also wrote and directed, he starred as Percy Anderson, the cunning homme fatale seeking revenge against his cheating boyfriend. Stewart later moved to Los Angeles to further his film career while focusing on producing the limited series version of "Late Confessions."
