Biography

I've always enjoyed writing in some way, shape, or form. When I was a kid I explored the woods that surrounded my house and imagined I was fighting aliens or searching for lost treasure. This imagination led me to writing short stories of all varieties. My creative masterpiece was a story about a woman who put her bra in a washing machine and it magically made her breasts shrink. In my teen years the form was songwriting. I was in a rock band in Columbia City, Indiana. A place surrounded by cornfields and cemeteries, and that's about it. Through strong writing, successful marketing, and unwavering determination, I was able to get our band signed to a major record label. Our album was released and our first single landed a spot on the American Pie 2 soundtrack. I went to New York City to do some album promotion with our record label, and it just so happened to be on September 11, 2001. I witnessed the terrorist attacks and shared the devastation felt by all the locals I was with. It's an experience that helped mold my writing themes, which are always along the lines of 'Warmth in Shadows'. My music background also gave me an understanding of the industry and taught me how to work creatively in a collaborative environment, which translates well to the film industry. After the band broke up, I needed to sustain my creative fix, so I started writing scripts. The non-flowery, direct style of screenwriting suits me perfectly. I've written multiple features, shorts, and even a pilot. All fall under the genres of drama, dramedy or dark comedy. So far, I've earned two paid writing assignments through networking and strong contest placements. On the personal side, I'm the proud parent of a teenage daughter. She means the world to me and I even self-published a children's book for her back in the day. I work for a medical device company and travel the country training surgeons on total hip replacement, where most of the learning occurs in cadaver labs. Yep, we use dead people to teach them. Also, I enjoy nature, dogs, Twizzlers and humanity. My goal is to earn more writing assignments and deliver scripts that are produced into movies, which become permanently tattooed on the hearts of those who watch them. I'm open-minded and always very accepting of criticism and feedback on my work. I would love nothing more than to have the opportunity to collaborate with talented people to create great films. More so, writing will always be a passion that I pursue at all costs, and I'm excited to see where it takes me.
