Martín Barrenechea

Biography

Martin Barrenechea (Montevideo, 1980). Filmmaker, Communications Degree from the National University of Uruguay. In 2011, he directs the nine-minute short film Marital Status, winner of the Super 16mm ORT Prize and selected for the 30th Uruguayan National Film Festival. In 2009, he was the cinematographer for Robot Love by Nicolas Branca, a 50-minute project selected for the 13th Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, the Havana Film Festival, and others. In 2008, he co-directs an experimental full-length film, Drift, a 60-minute production selected for the Uruguayan Cinematheque Festival, the Spanish Cultural Center, and the Asterisco Festival, among others. In 2006, he writes and co-directs Los Putarracos, a 10-minute short featured in the Sao Paulo Film Festival, Uruguayan Cinematheque Festival, and festivals in La Plata and the Canary Islands. Simultaneously, he directs videos and commercial work for several local and international brands.
