Keri Jenae Garrett was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 16, 1975. She had a passion for acting at a very young age, but could not pursue this interest as there was no opportunity for film/television in Oklahoma at the time. Her parents divorced when she was a teenager and her father moved to Southern California. After several years of visiting her father in California, she decided to relocate and live with him. During her Freshman year at Saddleback Community College, she took a Theater Appreciation class, which deepened her passion for acting. Her Junior year she moved back home to Oklahoma to finish college. While attending college she noticed a flyer in the hall during lunch for an audition opportunity for a play. Despite much criticism from friends, she attended the audition and got the part. Unfortunately, the part conflicted with her academic schedule, so she had to turn it down. One thing she does remember is the director of the play asked her how much experience she had with acting. She explained she had no experience at all. He strongly recommended she not give up on this talent as he really saw some unique abilities in her performance. This compliment really stuck with her.
Years later, she graduated top of her class at the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor's in Management Information Systems. After many years of working in the field of Information Technology (not really a passion of hers but had to pay the bills) she continued watching movies and television shows and studying the actors and imagining herself being a part of the scene.
One of the most defining moments of her life happened on a Sunday morning, late 2019 as she was watching the news, they advertised an open casting call for the movie "13 Minutes" in El Reno, Oklahoma. She immediately drove to El Reno and applied to be an extra. She didn't land a role that day, but part of the casting process for that film was to sign up to receive notifications from Freihofer Casting (The Actor Factory) in Norman, Oklahoma. She begin looking into this acting school and started taking acting classes. She has appeared in Dotty and Soul, Cheer For Your Life and Reagan (2020).
