Brandy N. Carie is a playwright, screenwriter, librettist, and stage director originally from Minnesota. MFA Dramatic Writing, Carnegie Mellon University. Winner of the 2019 Sloan/CMU Screenwriting Competition for feature Love,Genome, and a Kennedy Center ACTF Harold & Mimi Steinberg Playwriting Award for Tomorrow Game. Carie's plays have been developed at Barter Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and Pittsburgh's City Theatre. In Opera, Carie's The Beginning of Everything, composed by Josh Brown, has been produced by the Off-Book Club and animated by New Opera West. Carie directed Languagemachine by Lauren D'Errico and Ramin Akhavijou at Pittsburgh Opera and, with Collective 48, produced Houston's 2017 Future is Female Festival. Current projects in development: Untitled Pregnancy Horror Feature; completionist puppet web series Abruptly, Austen.
