Biography

Nasa Lamode was born John Ortiz Jr on August 5th 1992 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised on the south side to Kelly Martin & John Ortiz Sr, a bill collector. His mother is African American and Filipina and his father is of Tex-Mex ancestry (known as "Tejano" in the United States). Nasa lived the life of an inner city kid attending "St. Lawrence", a neighborhood Catholic School. Nasa won numerous poetry and writing contests and performed James Brown's famous "I Feel Good" in a school talent show. His life changed forever when one of his friends introduced him to Chris Jordan, a producer from Houston who working in small local studio and worked with the likes of artists Don Toliver, Tisa Korean and Casho. Lamode immediately started recording day in and day out producing many singles, like Mars Walk, Chinatown and Kush & Riesling as well as a Mixtape, "2020" and an EP, "My Way". Nasa caught the attention of many fans quickly as he not only raps, but also is a singer/songwriter and also produces his own music.
