Biography

Chris Paicely is co-founder of the film production company Swym Good with Miles August. The duo's first film production is the science fiction short ALUS (2023). Before entering the filmmaking space, Chris spent years as a journalist and then a public relations and marketing consultant. To this day, his passion remains in storytelling, with a specific focus on influencing the national zeitgeist so that people of color take center stage as credible voices. As the Vice President of Marketing Strategy for the Surge Institute and Founder of StoryPaced Media, Chris has led design teams, helped develop interactive digital platforms, and elevated people's work through creative storytelling. Chris also launched video series and spearheaded digital marketing to ensure the work of the communities he served was seen and felt by prospective funders, partners, and fellows. One of the largest projects Chris led was connecting the organization with award-winning artist, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who appeared in the 2019 short film Shades of Leadership. Chris is also the host of the Shades of Impact live stream series, which brings together leaders of color to discuss positive strides and innovations in the education space. Chris has written several op-eds, which can be found on Medium. He is also the co-host of the podcast Your Favorite Movie is Racist and the host of Unpainted.
