Nathan Dains

Biography

Nathan Dains is a teacher, filmmaker, photographer, and musician. He earned his M.A. and B.A. degrees in Telecommunication & Film at the University of Alabama, and is finishing his M.F.A in Film & Television at SCAD in Atlanta. He currently teaches media production courses at in the Journalism & Creative Media Department at the University of Alabama and in the Mass Communication Department at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, AL. Nathan produces video content for the Million Dollar Band at the University of Alabama, where he played and marched in the early 2000's. He has worked in marketing for men's formal wear companies, especially for the Larr Brio/Mark of Distinction labels based in Garfield, NJ. In college, he worked at Oz Music, a local record store in Tuscaloosa, AL, and as a DJ for jazz programming on Alabama Public Radio. Nathan draws on these experiences and influences, as well as those from his childhood in an US Air Force family, when making his films and teaching his classes. Nathan is primarily an editor, but eagerly takes on roles in sound design, sound recording, cinematography, and anything else that might need to be accomplished where his multiple skills can be used.
