Biography

Sham Shah, one of the most influential filmmakers in the Punjabi film industry was born and brought up in Amritsar (Punjab). His artistic knowledge comes from his years in Guru Nanak Dev University where he studied Dramatic techniques at theoretical level during Masters of literature. As a Writer/Director he displayed exceptional creative skills in his work. His first venture into filmmaking, 'Mouqa-e-vardaat' (Tv series) as writer was a success and went on to receive appreciation from viewers. It was followed by 'Mehram' a video song as Director which is based on popular love story of Punjab: Sohni Mahiwal. Then 'Wish to be a dog', as Director and screen writer was hindi short film is about rag pickers who have to go through the hardships of life and some of them even lead to causalities.one more short film "Street hookers" depicts story of a street hooker. It is about the making of a street hookers, her priorities, how she gets forced into this occupation and what she has to go through. In same stream his third hindi short film was "Notebandi aur ammaji" was about November 8,2016 demonetization. This story is about an aged lady who is unaware of the public announcement and has to face the consequences of demonetization. These three films deal with sensitive topics that are relevant in the society.
