Edward Whelan

Edward Whelan is an emerging writer/director/producer from the West Midlands. In 2019, Ed founded a production company, Keylight Studios, with Cameron Pulham. Since then, Ed has produced and directed commercial videos, and a collection of narrative films. In June 2019, Ed completed his first feature script, 'Audition', and secured crowdfunding for it. The film explores the impact of ambition on identity in young adults. 'Audition' is set to release in February 2021. Recently, he wrote and directed his debut short film in September 2020, 'Connected, Connection.' The short explores the impact of digital connectivity on a relationship pulled apart by a national lockdown. Ed has a strong visual style inspired by his photography background, insisting on clean visuals with tight, sharp lenses. He is inspired to tell stories about the hero's challenge finding home, prompting topical thematic questions about place, modern morality, and partnership.
