Biography

Chris Omar is an independent filmmaker, and founder of COVisuals. A native of Orange County, NY, Chris expanded into New York City when he began his education in the Film Department of Brooklyn College. Having won multiple awards in high school for his early film work, his main goal entering college was to be a catalyst for social change through his filmmaking. His first documentary "You Found A Home" exposed the mismanagement of the Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College that led to a young woman being sexually assaulted by an employee. As a direct result of the activism and media attention surrounding these issues including the film, CUNY and Brooklyn College cut all ties with the Residence Hall. The film went on to be an Official Selection at DOCNYC 2019. His narrative writing/directoral debut "Young Kanye," a comedy about a college freshman who moves into his dorm room, and is confronted with a roommate who has an unhealthy obsession with Kanye West, was nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Screenwriting at the 38th Annual Brooklyn College Film Festival. While interning at Blowback Productions, he was a Production Assistant on LeBron James documentary series "I Promise" as well as the HBO Original Documentary "Stockton on My Mind" both directed by Marc Levin. Chris' main line of work is music video production, having worked with brands such as HBO, Blowback Productions, Springhill Entertainment, the Brooklyn Nets, LiveNation, Dreamville, Atlantic Records, and Cinematic Music Group. He is now a graduate of Brooklyn College with a B.A. in Film Production, and plans to enter the field full-time in film production, while actively working on his own projects.
