Anne Rani is a singer, actress, songwriter, music producer, music video director, video editor and cinematographer of her own music videos.
Anne Rani was adopted by Danish parents from Sri Lanka in 1976, when she was 8 months old and grew up in Denmark. At the age of 6, she started taking piano lessons, which taught her how to compose her own songs and when she was 14, she took singing lessons and was taught to sing with a classic opera technique. She didn't want to pursue a career as a classical opera singer and aimed to become a pop star instead.
When she was 17 years old, she went to America for a year abroad as an exchange student and went to High school in Michigan, where she learned to speak fluently English. She joined the high school choir and was invited to perform playing piano and singing her own songs for half hour in front of 800 students at the high school. When she came back to Denmark a year later, she started to collaborate with various producers making demo tapes in hope of a career in the music industry, which paid off as she got signed by a major record label - Emi Medley Denmark, as well as in the UK and in Japan - Anne was only 21 years old.
Anne became the member of the #1 selling Danish girl band called JUICE in Denmark, which also made it to the international charts. They toured all over Europe, Asia and Scandinavia and performed at many big venues, ie Wembley Arena in UK, The Globe in Stockholm and Ahoy in Rotterdam.
The group Juice released two albums and lasted for 5 years.
Anne then started working with various Danish artists, which landed her the Danish P3 radio award for best Hip Hop song of the year with Danish rapper MC. Clemens and she did backing vocals for the Danish international band Infernal on their two international #1 hit singles, Ten miles and A to the B.
Anne landed an anchor on the Danish music television channel called "The voice", where she was hosting her own music news program.
In 2009, Anne released her own debut single called "Fall", which hit the chart as #4 on the BBC Asian Network. The same year she moved to Ibiza, where she has lived for more than 10 years.
In 2013, she worked with the international artist Kash Kale, songwriting and featuring on his first single from his album called Malika Jam, which won a Bollywood Academy Award for best fusion album of the year.
Anne has performed with her own music on all the most famous venues on Ibiza ie Pacha, Ibiza Rocks, Mambo etc and she has also done vocals for Andy Taylor (Duran Duran), Kathy Sledge (Chic) and many more.
In 2019, Anne released 5 singles, which she produced and wrote with producer Lasse Illinton, all released by the Danish label Lifted House and in the same year Anne performed during Copenhagen Pride with her own live show.
