Biography

Aliyah Rose Kiesler is a screenwriter, production designer, director, producer, and slam poet in Los Angeles, California. She is from Ann Arbor, MI, where both of her parents, who are professional musicians, reside. After dipping her toes in acting during high school, she decided to go to Drew University, in Madison, NJ, to pursue Theatre. Aliyah quickly found her love for directing and playwriting in school. She did countless internships in New York City, worked with nationally renowned companies like Tectonic Theatre Project, directed several pieces during school and then directed an extremely timely play in the New York Theatre Festival after graduating in 2018. Aliyah assisted the art director in the feature film Time Now (2021), which went to the Austin Film Festival. This, her desire to inspire others, and her knack for writing landed her a spot in DePaul University's MFA Screenwriting program. She helped entertainment companies in Chicago from the ground up, was involved in several short films in numerous roles, and completed her program with a 4.0, all the while being in the hospital and being in lockdown due to the pandemic, respectively. Now, she is working on a poetry book, writing, and co-producing her own film that is in the works.
