Growing up just outside of Toronto, Ontario in the town of Markham, Andrew Hamilton has always been captivated by the possibilities of cinema. As the son of a Jamaican-Canadian family, it became a window into the cultures he loved and a way to communicate with the world - the idea that "a single image could change everything," was a parable for life itself.
Andrew's career as a filmmaker began as an editor in the commercial world. Also a young father, he found time to study film history and the cinematic arts to further his passions which eventually lead him to directing music videos and commercials. Working with artists like Drake, DVSN, and Our Lady Peace, and notable brands like Jordan, Nike, and Air BnB, gave him exciting opportunities to develop his craft under high-pressure situations.
Throughout his commercial and music video work, clear cinematic influences are seen, and in a lifelong effort to zero in on his passion, Andrew has branched into the narrative direction. His debut short film project "DUPPY," a horror-driven meditation on community and grief, produced by TrePalm and financed by Food & Beverage, is in post-production and set for completion this fall. His second short film, "REMAKE," is set for production with TrePalm and Food & Beverage in the final quarter of the year.
