Andrew T. Lyall

Andrew T. Lyall is a character actor from New Zealand. He was born in Livingston, Scotland on May 14, 1996 to Andrew John Lyall and Jacqueline Lyall, both nurses. He grew up in Broxburn, West Lothian, in a loving home where he was freely encouraged to play. A young Andrew would often be found running around the neighbourhood with friends pretending to be characters from popular franchises of the early 2000s - Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, amongst others. In January 2008 he and his family emigrated to New Zealand. Andrew found his passion for performance in his teens. After graduating from Cambridge High School in 2014 he pursued a degree in Theatre Studies at The University of Waikato, beginning in 2016. Between 2014 and 2019 Andrew starred in over 15 amateur/devised theatre roles in Hamilton, New Zealand, in lieu of professional training opportunities. These theatre roles varied in scope, from large scale University productions, to fellow students' work exploring their studies of devised theatre, to local festival performances of Shakespeare. These experiences, coupled with his own discoveries and breakthroughs made while studying the training methods of Growtoski, Chekhov, Britton etc. fostered in Andrew an eccentric and nuanced approach to his characters, which he began applying to his first films, The Tavern and Buzz Cut (2021).
