Biography

At the age of 20, Adeline moved to New York City to begin a career in the theatre. She studied acting with the renowned Sanford Meisner and studied dance with modern dance pioneer, Martha Graham. For five years at the Cleveland Playhouse, Adeline enjoyed an illustrious run as the lead ingénue. In 1951, she appeared in the film "Distant Drums" starring Gary Cooper. She also performed as Tiger Lily in the touring production of Peter Pan, starring Boris Karloff and Veronica Lake. As an understudy, she replaced Ms. Lake and starred as Peter Pan, on occasion. Adeline also appeared in numerous off-Broadway plays, summer stock productions and commercials. She taught theatre and speech at The Ohio State University. Adeline Hiatt died Aug. 20, 2006. She was born Adeline Johanna Schulz in 1921, in Pittsburgh.
