Oliver is a Melbourne/Naarm-based producer with a passion for supporting emerging creatives to realise ambitious and diverse screen projects.
Drawing from his own experiences as a proud bisexual man with an Australian, Maltese, and British background, he focuses on producing stories that provide a voice and visibility to those often excluded from mainstream narratives.
His non-fiction work includes CODA: an experimental short documentary about performance artist Jodee Mundy, the only hearing child to grow up in an all-Deaf family.
He has also worked across numerous fiction projects, including Unwiltered films - a women-led production which depicts a woman's experience after suffering a miscarriage - and See For Yourself: a 10-minute visceral psychological thriller, experienced through the eyes and ears of a profoundly Deaf teenager. The films have since screened at festivals like Monster Fest, Image+Nation, and Female Filmmakers Festival Berlin. See For Yourself is now steaming on ABC iView.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Screen Production from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) he now specialises in accessibility and diversity in media. In his current position at Ai-Media, he ensures that visual media is made accessible to audiences who are blind.
In partnership with long-time collaborator, Kylie Aoibheann McDonnell, he has formed Inner Pictures: an independent production company. From spine-tingling horror films to gritty coming-of-age dramas, Inner Pictures produces genre stories with a socially-conscious edge. They are now production for their next project: ASEXY - An Asexual Love Story.
