Me-Mei Monae was born March 5, in Dallas, Texas. Me-Mei first hit the stage at the age of 5 years old as a model but became committed to the performing arts at the age of 12. She became a musician in the sixth grade playing the flute. As she grew musically, she played other instruments in concert and marching bands such as the Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Contra-Bass Clarinet, and Tenor Saxophone. Within her career as a musician she began performing vocally. Me-Mei has performed vocally for thousands in concert, travelling, church, and competition choirs. She has also won awards for operatic vocal music. Later, her mother introduced her to the world of theater arts. Me-Mei's first appearance on stage in a theater was for a play competition for Teco Productions. She has traveled nationally performing for numerous of plays. In 2018, she decided to pursue and commit to Film and Television. On April 27, 2019, she won the, Las Vegas Black Film Festival Actors' Showdown.
