Biography

Sofi (Safia Mandil) was born on February 22nd, 1999 in Chicago, Illinois, however she spent the earliest parts of her childhood living in Saudi Arabia. She is half Middle Eastern (Egypt, Saudi) and half Caucasian. Her mother Kristie Burns was the mind behind a Waldorf school inside of their home. Children and their mothers from the neighborhood would attend the school to thrive, by using creativity and nature to learn. It was then that the arts became the biggest part of her life. She began teacher herself to play the piano at age three, and by eight she was composing. Sofi grew up in the Midwest and attended West Des Moines Valley High School where she was heavily involved in vocal music, musical theater, songwriting, piano composition, and creative writing. After graduating in 2017, she was accepted into Emerson college in Boston, Massachusetts, however she turned down the spot, to move to Los Angeles, California and purse her career in on-camera acting. She attended Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theater. In January 2019, she wrote and directed a short scene titled "Max and the Notebook" to showcase her on-camera acting. A few months later, she had an original song recorded for the first time. By May 2019, a low budget music video was finished for the song titled "Muse," and "Max and the Notebook" was completed. As of August 2019, she resides in Los Angeles where she spends her time, composing music for the piano, writing songs for her EP, going to auditions and casting calls, writing and rewriting the same 35 pages of a novel she has been working on for two yeas, and snuggling with her cat Spoon.
