Nesaru Tchaas, Bay Area-born writer and director of Black-, Mexican-, and Filipino-American descent is a 2021 Sundance Institute Uprise Grant Winner and a Princess Grace Award Winner in Film. His short Some Still Search premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in 2021. He won the Special Jury Prize in Directing at Montclair Film Festival and the SAG Indie Award at Oscar-Qualifying Hollyshorts. He is currently developing a feature on the existential predicament of black life.
