Nicoleta Marangou

Nicoleta Marangou is a Greek/Cypriot Australian actor, writer, director and cinematographer. She was born in Camperdown, NSW and is the daughter of Vasiliki and Costas Marangou. Her parents came from a traditional Greek family. Her father was a cleaner and her mother a stay-at-home mother. Raised in Airds, Sydney, at the age of 8 she landed the lead role in a school play and as a reward the teacher took them to see the play Annie, that is when she knew she wanted to do acting. Her Cypriot-born father wasn't keen on the idea of her pursuing acting as a career and instead wanted her to do either law, medicine or teaching. Her mother however encouraged her and so she enrolled in drama classes in high school. Her drama teacher saw potential and encouraged her to do workshops with NIDA, which she did. However, drama wasn't available in her final two years. Her went on to study Social Science majoring in Criminology. In 2012, at the age of 21 she graduated from the University of Western Sydney, then enrolled into an acting school in Sydney, where she was taught the Sanford Meisner Technique. After 3 years she shifted her efforts and found she had a great eye in storytelling and helped student perfect their performance, that same year completed a short film as a supporting actress called Persistence (2015). She left the acting school in 2017 and in 2018 she co-created Beyond Summerland Entertainment a film production company for faith-based stories. Then in 2019, she co-created a second company called Soulset Studios a more educational service for film, music and graphic design and acting. She went on to direct Alana Valentine's well known play Parramatta Girl 2019 and in 2020 she was kept busy in front and behind the camera directing multiple music videos for artist Ellatronix and live streamed multi-cam concert events for All Age Music. She was also in a short film called Side Effects (2020). She also was 2nd Assistant director of a Greek comedic play "I have a goal, your honor." She continues to teach acting and producing and is writing multiple scripts both shorts and features. Her latest ones are short films called Truth and Exorcists both expected to be released in late 2022.
