Kristy Johnson

Kristy Johnson

Biography

Kristy Johnson is a speaker, advocate, and stand-up comic who gained national attention in 2018 for suing her father for his sexual abuse throughout her childhood. Her case was one of the first to be filed under Utah's revised statute of limitations, which extended the time limit for those abused as children to sue their perpetrators. An activist for survivors' rights, Kristy focuses on facilitating their social and legal progress-particularly in religious communities like that of her childhood, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since being featured in the documentaries Glass Temples (2017) and No Crime In Sin (2019), Kristy now uses her platform to empower her fellow survivors to reclaim their own stories and heal from past trauma.
