Portuguese-born Neil Leyton grew up in Canada where he entered the music business as lead singer in art-rock glam 90's indie icons The Conscience Pilate, along side director Edward Pond. Leyton then pursued a solo career that led him to London, UK, and Stockholm, Sweden, prior to relocating back in his native Lisbon, Portugal, where he formed the Lusitanian Ghosts: a rock n roll collective that is championing the re-use and re-invention of ancient Portuguese Chordophone instruments like the viola Beiroa, Amarantina, Campaniça, Toeira, Terceira and Braguesa. He starred alongside Abel Beja, Guillermo de Llera, Micke Ghost, O Gajo and Omiri in the feature doc "Lusitanian Ghosts" by young film maker André Miranda, a hybrid "making of" film that also features several interviews with ethnomusicologists discussing the origins of the Portuguese Chordophones.
