Growing up, Dylan Newman was captivated by imaginative films and animation. His favorite childhood pastime was running around the neighborhood swinging a lightsaber. In junior high, Dylan started doing stop-motion animations with his Legos. In 2015, one of Dylan's Lego films was chosen as one of the top 25 films in the official Star Wars fan-film awards. It was working on these animated films that eventually led Dylan to study film at Northern Arizona University.
In 2019, Dylan received recognition for his role as director of animation on Hiraeth, the first stop-motion film produced at NAU. The following year, Dylan edited the short film, June Heist.
