Anthony V. Palombizio, also known as "Tony Palombizio", was born in Pratola Peligna, located in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Anthony immigrated to the United States along with his parents in 1920, at the age of 10. He was the son of Eugenio and Annina Palombizio and raised in the Catholic faith. Anthony was a business owner and resident in the greater Hartford, Connecticut area, for most of his life. He married and raised three sons and had eight grandchildren. At the time of his passing, he had three great grandchildren. Anthony Palombizio was active in politics, was a former member of the Newington Town Council, and was also a Republican delegate. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Anthony loved gardening and growing flowers, trees, and his own fresh fruits and vegetables. He also loved traveling, and the Horse races. Anthony Palombizio was 5'5", had a loud strong voice, powerful demeanor, and somewhat flamboyant style! He spoke both English and Italian fluently. He loved acting and during his retirement years, he had some small parts in a few movies in the early 1970's. The story he told was, in early 1971 he was walking in New York city's Times Square district when he was approached by a Casting Agent looking for authentic "Italian mobster types" for a movie that was filming scenes the very next day. Anthony decided to accept the invitation to be a part of the film! That movie turned out to be the 1973 Academy Award winning film "The Godfather"! Anthony would also go on to make brief appearances in other New York films of the time, such as "The Godfather II", Serpico, The Taking of the Pelham 123, Crazy Joe, and The Super Cops. Anthony V. Palombizio died in 1998 at the age of 88.
