This film takes a dive into a photographic archive that portrays the 1968 student movement in Mexico. By reviewing over 1300 photographs of students, soldiers and citizens, and the development of a movement inside the Mexican capital, marked by the massive uprisings and the government's repression, the film questions the relationship between memory, power and representation. The Monopoly of Memory detaches from a political discourse, it even moves away from the historical, and weaves a reflexive montage of one of the most determinate events in Mexico's recent history.
